Are You Ready?

This article might not make me too popular; I’m here to announce the end of summer! 

The proof:  I was at my brother’s cottage in Gravenhurst, Ontario, Canada and saw some of the leaves starting to change.  The hockey players are getting ready to start training camp.    It was cool enough to need a jacket last night.  The kids are heading back to school. 

All signs point to summer wrapping up!

Personally I love the fall and love the start of hockey season!  So this isn’t so sad for me.  I’m ready, bring the fall on.  

And we all know that fall is the start of the holiday season.  Are you ready for it?  It’s not too late (yet) if you aren’t. 

The truth is a lot of marketing campaigns require preparation, time to mature, testing and tweaking etc.  Now is the time to start putting things in place so you are ready to take advantage of the holiday season.

Some things to consider:

1. Do you know what holiday sales and promotions you are going to offer?  Do you need copy written and graphics created? 
2. Are you listed in the search engines and prepared to tap into all the ripe holiday traffic? (That just happens to be searching for exactly what you have to offer!)
3. Have you reviewed your site lately to be sure it is in tip top shape and ready to be a sales machine for you this holiday season?  A marketing review of your site is always a good idea – make sure you have everything in place and are ready to convert your traffic into customers.

Those are just a few things to consider.  With the holiday season fast approaching, you don’t want to miss out because you got started too late. 

Was summer your busy time and now you are ready for some quiet time?  Enjoy a little bit of quiet time and then get right back to work, ramp things up to try to increase business in what would normally be your down time.  The truth is, if you are serious about growing your business, there is always something to do at any time of the year. 

I wanted to be sure you were all aware that the time leading up to the holiday season is crucial if you plan to tap into all the extra traffic and activity that is happening online.

When it comes to SEO it can take some time to get results in the engines – the time it takes to get top rankings varies based on your site’s history, what is going on with the engines at that particular time and the amount of fairy dust that gets sprinkled on your site (joking!!). 

Many people do not realize it takes time, and they figure they will optimize their site a couple weeks before the holiday and they end up missing out on the holiday season totally.

Although I would definitely agree that optimizing your site and going for top rankings is always a good idea and the saying is true “better late than never” – so if not now, then later is OK.  But why settle for OK?  If you know you are going to end up doing it anyway, why not do it now?
