Northwest Airlines

This post has nothing to do with SEO, and I hope you will understand my posting this.  I am not one to spend time focusing on the negative.  If I have a bad experience with a company, I tend to just let it go and feel bad for them – after all ultimately it’s the offending company whose business will suffer if they treat people badly. 

The Perfect Man rip But in this case, I am just too outraged to ignore it.  I traveled last month with Northwest Airlines for the very first time and I can literally say that every single step of the process was a perfect example of how NOT to treat people.

It started when I paid to upgrade to a better seat and they never gave me that seat – they refused to help me when I complained about it and were not helpful at all in getting me a refund.  

My seat area was dirty, there were only 2 buy on board snack options instead of the 5 or 6 they promised, and I didn’t like the 2 options so I went without food. 

Then my next flight had a mechanical problem – and there was an electrical fire on board and we had to make an emergency landing.  No one was hurt, and the passengers all handled it wonderfully.  

Too bad NWA didn’t handle it as well.  The flight attendants didn’t check to make sure people were OK, in spite of having a plane full of scared people.  

Once we landed and they were looking into the situation we were not offered any snacks or anything as we waited over 2 hours for the plane to be fixed.  They actually fixed that plane and sent us back up again – even though everyone else would have felt a lot more comfortable going up in another plane.  

The fire problem was contained in a unit they were able to just remove and replace and it had not caused any damage anywhere else on the plane.  However, as you can imagine people just didn’t feel safe in a plane that had 2 hours earlier smelled so badly of smoke and burning rubber that people started to feel ill.  

I put that experience behind me and went on to enjoy my vacation.  However, on the way back I encountered more appalling customer service and unpleasant staff. 

Doctor Strange dvd Strange Days movie Once I returned back to LA, I found out my luggage was lost.  Not just misplaced to be delivered another day, but actually lost.  No one knew where it was.  After many phone calls, emails and even a trip back to the airport to deal with it – I still have no information.  

My luggage has been lost for 3 weeks and not one person at the airline has thought it was appropriate to contact me and help me process my claim.  I leave messages and they ignored, I submit their online form with a request for help and I don’t hear anything.  I sent 2 letters directly to the President and haven’t heard anything. 

It’s like they just expect me to go away and forget they lost my luggage.  It is unreal.

The one phone call I did get from Northwest was a woman asking if I knew where my luggage was.  I am not kidding!  When I told her I didn’t and I hoped they would find it for me, she promised to call the next day and I haven’t heard back from anyone at all. 

One or two bad experiences can be overlooked, but for every single contact and experience with the airline to be this poor, it makes me realize they are just not capable of providing satisfactory service and they definitely do not care about their customers. 

I strongly advise everyone to consider this when choosing an airline.  I don’t have any reason to believe your experience would be any better.  So, happy travels on any airlines other than Northwest Airlines.
