Tagging – Not a child’s game or a type of graffiti
“Tagging” is another buzz word out there these days, and I wanted to take a moment to make sure everyone knows what it is.
Tagging is basically like bookmarking. There are services that allow you to “tag” something you read that you want to share or go back to and visit. Blog posts, search results, news items, articles — all of it can be tagged.  (Google Toolbar’s latest release allows you to tag/bookmark sites).Â
Tagging means the bookmark is not stored on your computer, but rather on a server so that you can access it from any computer anywhere. Kinda cool, eh?
More importantly, tagging creates an opportunity to drive new traffic. You see, you can share your list of sites you tagged and you can search other people’s lists. So, say someone tags your site on turtles. Then someone else comes along and sees that tag, so they go check out your turtle site. You just got a new visitor you wouldn’t have had otherwise.Â
So, get out there and start tagging.Â
